The reporter at KOMO-TV in Seattle and recipient of four regional Emmys during his television career presented one of his awards to Communications Dean Paul Parsons to display in the school’s lobby.
A few hours before being honored as part of the 2016 Top 10 Under 10 Alumni Award program, Mitch Pittman ’09, currently a reporter at KOMO-TV in Seattle, made his own presentation. During an informal discussion on April 2 with members of Elon Local News, Elon University’s student-produced newscast, Pittman presented one of his four regional Emmys to his alma mater.
With Associate Professor Rich Landesberg and several ELN members looking on, Pittman donated one of his Emmy statues to Communications Dean Paul Parsons to display in the school’s lobby. Later that evening, Landesberg introduced Pittman at the Top 10 Under 10 alumni awards event.
Following his 2009 graduation, Pittman joined WFFF/Fox 44 Local News in Burlington, Vermont. After two years on the job, he transitioned to Minneapolis’ KSTP, the 15th largest market in the country. During his tenure in Minnesota, Pittman’s multimedia reporting earned him three Upper Midwest Regional Emmy Awards.
For the past two years, he’s worked as a photographer and reporter at KOMO-TV in Seattle, where he won a fourth regional Emmy. In addition, he has received two national awards from the National Press Photographers Association, including first place in the 2014 Solo Video Journalist General News category.
