FOX8 profiles Elon Anatomical Gift Program

The High Point, N.C. FOX affiliate produced an extended segment on the program, launched in 2017, for its Buckley Report.

FOX8 recently featured Elon's Anatomical Gift Program, launched in 2017 in support of the university's physical therapy and physician assistant graduate degree programs.

The extended segment on the program appeared as part of the FOX affiliate's Buckley Report with senior anchor and reporter Bob Buckley, and focused on the impact that the anatomical gift program is having on the education of future physical therapists and physician assistants educated at Elon. The university is one of the few without a medical school that has its own human donor program.

Buckley interviewed Janet Cope, professor of physical therapy education, who was key in proposing and developing the program, as well as Dr. Cindy Bennett, assistant professor of physician assistant studies, and Dianne Person, executive director of the program. The segment also featured insights from University Chaplain Jan Fuller, who leads a session for physician assistant and physical therapy students about working the emotional experience of working with human donors in the lab.

"You always have to remember that this person was alive at some point," Chloe Giordano, a physical therapy graduate student from White Plains, New York, told Buckley.
