School’s out, but the work doesn’t stop for Elon music theatre majors
Elon music theatre majors will be hard at work across the country this summer in many different facets. You can see them performing and interning at 28 different theatres, theme parks, agencies, and camps in 17 states and even abroad in Italy. It is common for music theatre majors to attend several auditions and conferences around the country every spring semester to vie for these jobs.
Current music theatre majors can be seen performing at prestigious Equity theatres such as Music Theatre Wichita, Lexington Theatre Company, Flat Rock Playhouse, Forestburgh Playhouse, Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival and Maine State Music Theatre. Numerous students can be seen in leading roles at wonderful summer stock theatres, such as Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, New London Barn Playhouse, Virginia Repertory Theatre, Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre and others.
Several music theatre majors also chose to apprentice or study in different areas of the business, such interning with casting at Roundabout Theatre Company in NYC, work-shopping opera abroad in Florence, or directing leadership workshops in Maryland.
