Elon students, faculty and staff are invited to gather in the the Global Commons Great Hall at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, to watch coverage of the 2016 election.
The Elon community is invited to watch history unfold as election results come in from across the nation on Tuesday, Nov. 8 in the Global Commons Great Hall at 7 p.m.
Elon Votes!, Student Government Association, Student Union Board, Study USA and National Campaign for Political and Civic Engagement will serve as the hosts and coordinators of this evening’s event.
This is one of a series of programs this fall designed to enhance civic engagement efforts on campus. The series is supported by Elon Votes! and the Elon Political Engagement Work Group.
Elon Votes! is a nonpartisan campus initiative created to provide students with the necessary resources to register to vote and learn about issues at stake in upcoming elections. The initiative is run by Elon student Andrew Goodman Foundation Ambassadors June Shuler and Gabby Vance. The Andrew Goodman Foundation’s Vote Everywhere is a nonpartisan, experiential program that recruits, trains and supports emerging leaders at colleges and universities across the country.
The Elon University Political Engagement Work Group is a nonpartisan collaborative team that involves students, faculty, and staff representing areas such as the Department of Political Science, Study USA, Center for Leadership, Student Government Association, Residence Life, Student Media, Truitt Center and National Campaign for Political and Civic Engagement. The group’s charge is to implement voter education activities and increase student participation in local, state, and national voting and election initiatives.
