McBride was elected during the UCC’s General Synod, held July 13-17 in Kansas City, Mo. McBride will serve on the council until 2006.
The executive council works with the church’s affiliated and associated ministries, setting national policies for their involvement in church activities. The council also sets the agenda for the church’s mission plan and encourages cooperation between the UCC’s various ministries.
McBride has served as a member of the UCC’s council of higher education, and he has been active in various church leadership roles. He has been at Elon since 1984.
