An Elon BSN for Future Nursing Leaders

The Department of Nursing at Elon University empowers a new and progressive generation of nurse leaders. We educate nursing students committed to advancing health equity and serving all patients with the grace and dignity they deserve, who will contribute to advances in healthcare delivery, and who will use technology and data to help people live healthier, longer, and fuller lives. Elon nurses will make a difference in our communities and in our world.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is offered in two formats: a traditional, four-year program for high school graduates, and an accelerated BSN program for those who have already earned a bachelor’s degree in another field of study.

The four-year BSN program will satisfy all Elon University core requirements and allows pursuit of a biology minor in addition to all nursing pre-requisites, the 65-credit hour nursing curriculum, and 540 clinical hours. The accelerated BSN program is an intensive, 16-month program that includes 65 credit hours and 540 clinical hours. Both programs include opportunities for experiential and global learning and will prepare students to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become a licensed, registered nurse.

The Department of Nursing is housed within the School of Health Sciences. It provides nursing students with invaluable opportunities for interprofessional education, access to state-of-the-art facilities for engaged learning and simulation, and strong community partnerships for clinical placements and future employment.

The four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs are approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
