Elon Academy Assistant Director of College Success
The Elon Academy, part of the Elon University Center for Access and Success, is a non-profit college access and success program for academically promising high school students in Alamance County with financial need and/or no family history of college. The Elon Academy Assistant Director of College Success has primary responsibility for designing and implementing programs that provide and/or facilitate financial, academic, social, and mentoring/advising support for scholars and their families in all phases of the Elon Academy. This includes working with senior scholars (in high school), as well as college scholars throughout their collegiate careers by designing, coordinating, and implementing the College Success Program and the Transitions to College Retreat. The Assistant Director of College Success works with various groups on and off Elon’s campus to address issues of diversity and college retention. This position involves occasional travel to visit each college scholar on their college campuses during the fall and spring semester to develop partnerships and networks of support on those campuses. Well-Being Coordinator
The Center for Access and Success is seeking a committed and experienced Well-Being Coordinator to offer intentional support for underrepresented PK-12 students and their families, as well as college-aged students enrolled in academically rigorous programs. This position requires expertise in working with the holistic well-being of students from diverse populations and developing innovative programs connected to community, emotional, financial, physical, purpose, social, and mental well-being. The coordinator would provide thought leadership and programming on factors influencing well-being and student success, including student resilience, inequitable systems, and financial stressors. Academic Coach
Coaches tutor and generally support Elon Academy scholars in their regular high school coursework. We provide coaches on an as-needed basis when a scholar indicates a need for help and a coaching schedule can be arranged. Coaches can meet with students virtually or in-person around Elon’s campus, and the hours are flexible depending on how many scholars a coach chooses to take on. College Access Team (CAT) Mentors
CAT (College Access Team) Mentors are current Elon University students who serve as role models for the Elon Academy scholars through interactions inside and outside of organized programming. Mentors support a small group of scholars, focusing on their individual success and needs. They conduct a minimum of three individualized face-to-face meetings with each scholar per semester, serve as assistants during the once monthly Saturday Programs, and keep Elon Academy Administrative Staff informed about student success and challenges via online reporting and regularly scheduled meetings. CAT Mentors are typically assigned between 5-7 scholar mentees. CAT Mentors are paid at a starting rate of $13 per hour. Additionally, CAT Mentors are reimbursed for gas or food purchases made in support of their role as a CAT Mentor. Summer Mentors
All Elon Academy mentors are current college students or recent alumni who are Elon University students and/or Elon Academy college scholars. Elon Academy mentors serve as role models for Elon Academy scholars through interaction inside and outside of the classroom. Elon Academy mentors live in the residence halls (24 hours a day) with the scholars, and assist with the planning and implementation of field trips, college visits, evening curriculum, and other engaging aspects of the Elon Academy. For the 2024 three-week residential summer program, Elon Academy mentors will also serve as peer group leaders. The role of the peer mentor is central to our work with the HS students. You would be assigned a peer group to lead for the entire 3 weeks. This is an important opportunity for you to develop deep relationships with these near-peers and to have a substantial impact on their lives. Positions for 2024 have been filled. Please check our website in late fall for positions available in Spring 2025. Please note, Summer Mentors are required to stay and live on Elon Campus during the entire 3 weeks.
