Parent Information Sessions

Join us for five different informative sessions for our Village Project parents designed to build connections with Village Project staff, teachers, & other parents while discussing tips to help support their child’s education and remain engaged in their student’s learning.

Program Details

  • Occurring on Monday nights throughout the semester.
  • Programs will be offered in English and Spanish.
  • English sessions will occur from 5-6 PM, with Spanish sessions directly following at 6-7 PM.
  • Programs will be offered simultaneously in person at Elon University and virtually over Zoom.

I. Getting the Most Out of Village Project Tutoring

Monday, September 29 | English: 5-6 PM, Spanish: 6-7 PM

Join us for a session discussing how to maximize your child’s success in the Village Project program. We’ll cover tips for supporting learning at home, reinforcing skills from tutoring, and effective communication with tutors to help you ensure your child gets the maximum benefit out of their Village experience!

II. Getting to Know Your Child’s Teacher & Parent-Teacher Conference Tips

Monday, October 14 | English: 5-6 PM, Spanish: 6-7 PM

Join us for a session focused on building a strong partnership with your child’s teacher. We’ll share tips on effective communication and making the most of parent-teacher conferences to support your child’s academic success. This is a great opportunity to strengthen your involvement in your child’s education!

III. Making Learning Fun: At-Home Learning Activities & Study Strategies **CANCELLED**

IV. The Link Between Your Child’s Health and Academic Success **CANCELLED**

Monday, November 11 | English: 5-6 PM, Spanish: 6-7 PM

Discover how your child’s physical, emotional, and social well-being are key to their academic success. In this session, we’ll explore tips on building healthy habits such as consistent routine, self-care, social involvement, mental health, nutrition, sleep, and physical activity. A healthy lifestyle is not just about physical health, so join us to learn practical tips for supporting your child’s overall well-being and academic performance!

V. Winter Break Tutoring: Keeping Your Child Engaged Over Break **CANCELLED**

Monday, December 2 | English: 5-6 PM, Spanish: 6-7 PM

Learn strategies to keep your child engaged and learning during the winter break. This session will offer tips for maintaining academic progress with fun, educational activities that can be easily integrated into your holiday schedule. Join us to ensure your child continues to thrive, even when school is out!

Parent Focus Groups

October 22-24 | English: 5:05-5:55 PM, Spanish: 6:00-6:55 PM
At Select Schools: South Graham | Haw River | Newlin

These 50-minute focus group sessions are designed to gather your feedback, and suggestions to help us better support your child’s educational experience. Snacks will be provided & participants will be entered in a drawing for a $25 Walmart Gift Card. All sessions will be in-person at each school during regular tutoring hours.
