The Village Project provides free tutoring services during the fall and spring semesters for Pre-K through 5th-grade students enrolled in Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS) elementary schools.

From February 10th through May 8th, The Village Project will operate one evening per week from 5:00–7:00 PM at each of our partner elementary schools within the ABSS. The program runs for 11 weeks, with specific session days varying by location (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday nights).

Since you will be working with vulnerable populations, we have a few requirements for our teachers and liaisons to complete before you can officially begin teaching. Please ensure you have completed all the following to ensure you will be able to begin the first week:

  • PROTECTION OF MINORS TRAINING: Follow the link to self-enroll and complete this Moodle course, which includes a 6-minute video and brief certification quiz. Email your Certificate of Completion to villageproject@elon.edu.
  • BACKGROUND CHECK: Look for an email from Sterling Background Checks with further instructions.
  • MANDATORY PRE-TEACHING MEETING:  All registered teachers and liaisons will receive an email with the date, time and location the meeting.
