  • Laurie Judge

    Laurie heads up the career advising team for Elon College, the College of Arts & Sciences advising students and alumni in all career-related areas and working closely with CAS faculty and staff to support career programming for 20 departments and 50 majors within the College.  She manages the SPDC’s Don’t Cancel Class (DCC) program for all Elon University faculty requesting classroom presentations related to career development topics.  She also manages the Elon Year of Service Fellows program.

    Prior to joining Elon, Laurie spent the bulk of her career working in the Midwest where she worked in Career Development, Training & Development, Association Management, and Adult Education & Literacy.  In addition to teaching Career & Life Planning courses in her previous role in Career Development, she served as an adjunct college instructor for ten years teaching in the areas of Business Communication, Professional Development, and Business Foundations as well as the First-Year Experience.

    In her free time, Laurie enjoys reading, running, cycling, and spending time with her family.

    Social and Behavioral Sciences and Arts & Humanities students, Hispanic/Latinx students

    Adriana advises students in the fields of Social and Behavioral Sciences as well as Arts & Humanities, helping them with their professional development both on and off campus. In her previous role as a Career Advising Fellow, she taught two Transition Strategies courses: 'Life After Elon' and 'Explore Self and Careers.' She has consistently worked with multiple faculty members to integrate career advising into their courses while continuing to support students in 1:1 appointments. Beyond her work with the College of Arts and Sciences, Adriana is deeply involved with ALANAM students and hosts drop-in hours at El Centro.

    Prior to her career services roles, she gained experience in veteran services, first-year student support, mentorship, engineering tutoring, academic advising, and orientations. Over her various roles, she has developed a passion for higher education and the power of students developing professionally. 

    In her free time, she enjoys exploring new places in North Carolina, and traveling. She has visited over 10 countries, but her favorite place to come back to is her hometown, Puerto Rico.

    Rhonda Kosusko is the Associate Director of Career Services and serves as the liaison to the School of Education and Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences.  In addition to counseling students and alumni one-on-one on career-related topics including choosing a major and/or career direction, developing internship and job search strategies, creating marketing materials including resumes and cover letters, and preparing for interviews, Rhonda coordinates and promotes many career services events and programs such as the Transition Strategies Course Program, the Elon Teacher Fair and various other workshops throughout the year.  She also gives presentations on career-related issues.

    Rhonda has been a career advisor/consultant for close to twenty years and has experience working with college students and other adults in transition and in assisting clients with career decisions, career planning and the job search process.  Prior to her own career transition into counseling, she worked for over ten years in public relations in the business and nonprofit sectors.

    Rhonda is married and has a dog and two cats who all live together in her Durham, NC, home -- which was built in 1933.  When not working, she enjoys reading, exercising (you may see her in the Fitness Center at lunch!) and watching old movies on TV.

    John came to Elon after spending 10 years at Penn State. While at Penn State, he worked in Residence Life, College of Engineering's Academic Advising Center, the Forensic Science Program, and for 5 years was a Prehealth Adviser for the university. 

    John is a member of the National Association for Advising in the Health Professions (NAAHP) and currently serves on the NAAHP Committee on Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion. He also served as the Chair for NEAAHP's CDEI (NAAHP's Northeast region). 

    John is married with two step children. He also has two wonderful dogs (Winnie and Ruger) as well as a cat (Dash). 

Internships

  • Nancy Carpenter

    Nancy assists students with their efforts to explore, secure, and register internships.  Nancy serves as liaison and advisor for the three parties involved in a for-credit internship- the student, the faculty mentor, and the site supervisor.  Nancy serves as mentor for students completing the internship Experiential Learning Requirement (ELR) and/or cooperative education experience.  Nancy also facilitates the Campus Alamance program and administers internship grants.   Nancy’s previous experience at Elon focused on coordinating on-campus student employment and the federal work-study program. Prior to Elon, Nancy worked in the area of human resources in Alabama and North Carolina, and as a music educator in Frankfurt, Germany.

    When not at Elon you will find Nancy spending time with her family and friends.  Nancy loves book studies with her small group, singing with a worship team, and ‘family-music’ night when the adult ‘kids’ are in town.

    As the Associate Director of Corporate and Employer Relations for Elon College, the College of Arts & Sciences, Danielle connects with employers that seek to hire liberal arts majors.

    Prior to this role, she served as a career advisor in the Love School of Business for 6 years. She collaborated with faculty and staff across campus to provide career-related programs and presentations. Additionally, she supported students through conversations revolving around resume and cover letter development, networking and personal branding, creating strategies for the job and internship search, interview assistance, and professional etiquette.

    Prior to this position, Danielle served as a Career Advising Fellow at Elon for the 2014-2015 academic year, then continued her time supporting the Elon in NYC internship program and bridges to NYC program. She is thrilled to be back at Elon and living in North Carolina!  

    Outside of Elon, Danielle loves running, teaching group fitness classes, trying new and unique recipes, listening to country music, and spending as much time outside as possible.
