Tues., Feb 28 @ 7 p.m.: My Neighbor Totoro (Japan)
In this classic Japanese animated film, two girls move to the country to be near their ailing mother and have adventures with the wondrous forest spirits who live nearby. The film explores themes of ecological magic and environmental healing. Come for a chance to win plush Totoros.
Tues., March 21 @ 7 p.m.: Minari (South Korea/USA)
A Korean American family moves to an Arkansas farm in search of its own American dream. Amidst the challenges of this new life in the strange and rugged Ozarks, they discover the undeniable resilience of family and what really makes a home.
Tues., April 11 @ 7 p.m.: The Nightingale (China)
To keep a promise, an old man sets off to his wife’s native village with a bird in a cage. Along the road, together with his granddaughter, he discovers new values, particularly those related to the heart.

Global Film Series Finale and Chocolate Tasting.
A Syrian refugee struggles to settle into his new Canadian small-town life, caught between his dream to become a doctor and preserving his family’s chocolate-making legacy.

A Smith-Chase Lecture in Religious Studies. An illustrated lecture given by Steven Heine, explaining Zen’s focus on the arts by highlighting the saying, “Painting is poetry without words, and poetry is painting with words,” and exploring its implications for traditional and modern forms of religious practice.
Wed., April 19 @ 6 p.m.: Asia in Your Heart, Mind & Dream: A Collage Workshop by Alyssa Hinton

This is a workshop where you will explore collage and your own understanding of Asia with Alyssa Hinton. You will discover connections and awaken your own artistic expression through this versatile art form while building and sharing with community during this special month! Bring an image that you think best represents Asia to the workshop. If you have some old magazines to cut up, bring those as well! All are welcome and no prior art training is required.
