Elon Student Film-Related Organizations
- FreshTV is an accelerated training program that prepares students to be successful in the many areas of communications. The program consists of a series of workshops that are designed to set first year students up to have the base knowledge and contacts to be successful in the beginning of their college career. The program consists of 15 weeks of training that cover basic training on cameras and other equipment, studio rotations, non-fiction and fiction story design and production and planning. - Elon Student Television was created in 1992. Hundreds of students work in some capacity each year in the production of programming for ESTV. ESTV currently represents five student-run television shows. ESTV is always looking to showcase student work and encourages students to pitch new ideas. Kai Swanson (kswanson8@elon.edu) serves as the organization’s faculty mentor.
- Cinelon Productions is Elon’s only student-run film production company. It exists to connect students through film and facilitate production of film projects at a professional level. Cinelon promotes film as a major course of study at Elon University by developing and producing film projects each academic semester, hosting workshops, and screening and critiquing student-made and professional films. - elondocs is a community of students, faculty, and filmmakers interested in producing high-quality documentaries for screening and distribution. elondocs sponsors the elondocs production program, supports the work of students who have completed the program, offers screenings of well-known documentaries, and fosters collaborations with other programs. - Women of the Elon Entertainment Empire (WEEE) seeks to serve as a key support and networking group for Elon alumnae working in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles and Elon undergraduates seeking a career in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles and operates according to three core tenets. - Elon Sports Vision partners with Elon Athletics to broadcast and live stream university sports events at an ESPN-quality level. Students gain immersive and hands-on experience with Elon’s NCAA Division I Athletic Department in live broadcasting, content creation, sports business and marketing, in-venue productions, and studio shows. Elon Sports Vision also includes student-produced “Elon Phoenix Weekly,” a sports magazine show, and “One on One Sports,” a sports debate talk show. - Turner Theatre is a 220-seat movie theater located in Dwight C. Schar Hall in Elon University’s School of Communications. The theater has regular programming four days a week during the academic calendar, as well as special events throughout the year. All events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.
