We Appreciate Your Support

Gifts and pledges help us meet student needs and strengthen our department. They support merit- and need-based scholarships, guest speakers, academic service learning opportunities, books and journals for our departmental resource room, and the latest technology for our Oral History and Geographic Information Systems programs.

We greatly appreciate the support of those who have enabled us to annually offer the George and Jerolene Nall Scholarship, Philip Vance Cates Memorial Scholarship, Watterson-Troxler History and Endowed History Scholarships, William H. and Kathryn M. Duncan Scholarship, H.H. Cunningham Award, and Smith-Midgette Endowed Scholarship for International Study/Travel. For more than a decade, our department also has benefitted from the endowed Story Professorship in Southern History.

We invite you to take advantage of naming opportunities that recognize individuals and corporations that partner with Elon in strengthening the Department of History and Geography.

  • Endowed Distinguished Professorship, $500,000
  • Endowed Emerging Scholar Professorship, $250,000
  • Endowed Legacy Student Scholarship, $50,000
  • Endowed Student Scholarship, $25,000

Naming opportunities also exist within our new facility, Lindner Hall. Plaques in our main departmental suite (Lindner 112) or outside faculty offices will recognize a:

  • Named faculty office, $10,000
  • Named student award (History Paper Prize), $25,000
  • Named student award (Geography Paper Prize), $25,000
  • Named student award (Outstanding Senior in History), $25,000

Gifts of any size are deeply appreciated. In the link at the end of this page, please select History and Geography in the drop down menu after “I wish my funds to be applied to”. Our department is listed under Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences, and a box enables you to let us know which program or initiative within our department you would like to support. Many thanks in advance.
