Elon Jazz Day
We are currently asking that you consider nominating one or more students from your jazz program for Elon Jazz Day, held Saturday, February 21, 2026, on the Elon University campus.
Nominate students HERE.
This free event is open to intermediate to advanced high school student participation by nomination from a teacher or jazz director (students from all schools are welcome whether participating in the rest of the Elon Jazz Festival or not). Students will have shown a motivation to continue playing jazz in college and might be considering majoring or minoring in music. Any students considering applying to Elon University are also encouraged to participate. Free lunch will be provided!
Elon Jazz Day includes:
- Masterclass with visiting guest artist(s)
- Improvisation classes
- Masterclasses for individual instruments
- Faculty-coached combos with other high school jazz musicians from across the region
- Free lunch provided!
Horn players must bring instruments. Guitarists and bassists must bring their own cords and amps. Drummers must bring their own cymbals, sticks, brushes, and hi-hat clutch. Drum sets will be provided.
Nominated students who accept our invitation to Jazz Day must complete, sign, and return the downloadable Elon Jazz Day 2026 Registration/Consent Form to Dr. Alex Heitlinger with the signature of a parent or guardian.
If any students are considering applying to Elon, I will schedule in advance audition times with you for any of your seniors who would like to audition for entrance into our music and/or jazz studies program while they are on campus for the Festival or Jazz Day.
