Jazz Ensemble
The Elon Jazz Ensemble is a vibrant musical community (up to 17 musicians) performing repertoire that spans the rich history of jazz, from timeless classics to modern sounds. Whether you’re majoring in music or simply have a passion for jazz, we encourage you to join this amazing group. You’ll experience diverse musical styles, hone your playing, and explore the art of jazz music in new and exciting ways.
Also, prepare to be inspired as we regularly share the stage with esteemed guest artists which have included Barry Harris, Joe Lovano, and more. Our musical activities aren’t confined to campus either. In previous years, we’ve taken our talents abroad, gracing stages at festivals throughout Europe.
Jazz Combos
Elon Jazz Combos are dynamic smaller jazz ensembles, ranging from 3 to 8 members. This close-knit group setting allows you to sharpen your improvisational talents while exploring standard and more obscure jazz repertoire from a range of styles and eras. Combos are also a wonderful platform for your own artistic visions to come alive, as student band members help select repertoire, shape the musical arrangements, and even write original music for the groups!
