Fifteen scholarships of $5,000 annually are awarded to students interested in studying data analytics. The program is not major or minor specific. Any student who is interested in becoming a leader in a data-driven discipline is eligible for the Data Analytics Scholars program.

Program Highlights

Year One

  • Attend a welcome gathering and share first-year experiences.
  • Complete STS 2120: Statistics in Application with other scholars.
  • Visit with industry data teams to discuss real-world problems.
  • Begin a team-based data analytics consulting project with other Data Analytics scholars.
  • Plan a data analytics/science event for the general Elon community to implement in Year Two.
  • Attend SURF (Spring Undergraduate Research Forum) presentations followed by conversations with presenters to learn about research opportunities on campus.

Year Two

  • Attend a welcome gathering.
  • Complete CSC 1300, MEA 3290, MGT 4250, or MGT 4260 with other scholars.
  • Complete a team-based data analytics consulting project with other Data Analytics scholars.
  • Visit with industry data teams to discuss real-world problems.
  • Implement a data analytics/science event for the general Elon community.
  • Develop a proposal for a year 3-4 analytics project.

Years Three and Four

  • Serve as peer mentors, enhancing the experience of first- and second-year Data Analytics scholars.
  • Attend the Data Analytics conference with other scholars.
  • Collaborate with a faculty mentor to complete the proposed project.
  • Present outcomes of your data analytics project at SURF (Spring Undergraduate Research Forum) and attend a dinner with Data Analytics Scholars.
  • Complete Excel certification or SAS Certification exam.

Ready to Apply?

Students with substantial and broad leadership experiences in their high school and/or communities are competitive candidates for Elon’s Scholars programs. Fifteen Data Analytics Scholars are selected in each first-year class.

The Data Analytics Scholars application is due January 10 and available in the first-year application.
