Bands
The mission of the Elon University Band Program is to provide our students with a variety of unique and high quality musical, artistic, and social experiences. We offer three outstanding ensembles, the “Phoenix Winds” Wind Ensemble, the “Fire of the Carolinas” Marching Band, and the Elon Basketball Band. Choral Activities & Voice
Elon University’s Choral Activities provides a wide range of choral performance opportunities, including University Chorale, which is open to all university students without an audition; Camerata, which is a smaller chamber choir requiring an audition; and élan, which features vocal jazz and a cappella music; and Opera Workshop, which offers students performance opportunities in operatic literature.

Orchestra
The purpose of the orchestra is to provide students, community members and area professionals with an ensemble of high calibre that is dedicated to performing standard orchestra literature.

Commercial & Pop Music
The music department has two primary ensembles dedicated to performing modern popular musical styles. The Elon Electric Ensemble performs original music written by students in the Music Production and Recording Arts major each fall and features various musical styles in the spring, with recent concerts such as “One-Hit Wonders,” “The Music of Led Zeppelin,” “Satisfaction: A Tribute to The Rolling Stones,” “Thriller: The Music of Michael Jackson.” Techtronica performs music in the EDM, electronic pop, Hip hop, and other synth/sampling popular music genres.

Jazz
Elon’s Jazz Ensemble concentrates on the wide range of music under the jazz umbrella, including jazz standards and classics, student arrangements, and improvisation techniques. There are also opportunities to perform in smaller jazz combos.

Chamber Music
All Elon University students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of instrumental and vocal ensembles. Chamber music is a vibrant part of the Music Department.
