Athletic Bands
The Elon University Athletic Bands consists of two ensembles The Fire of the Carolinas (FOTC) Marching Band and the Phoenix Pep Band. Both ensembles perform regularly for athletic events around campus. The marching band performs for all home football games and the pep band performs for both basketball games and volleyball matches.
Fire of the Carolinas Marching Band
Welcome to the home of the Elon University “Fire of the Carolinas” Marching Band! As the “Soundtrack of the Phoenix,” our mission is to entertain Phoenix fans and support our teams and have a great time in the process! GO PHOENIX!
The “Fire of the Carolinas” marching band is a contemporary college marching band that performs three to four high-energy, entertainment-focused shows each year (plus pregame and stands performance). The band has a close-knit, family atmosphere that is a blast to be a part of. As the “Soundtrack of the Phoenix,” we also perform during the games in the stands and at various athletic and university events around campus. The band rehearses twice a week, so the time commitment is minimal and easily manageable (no more than a normal two-day-a-week class).
Everyone in the band receives a small scholarship just for participating. The scholarship begins at $500 and increases each year you are in the band up to $1,000.
Elon Pep Band
The Elon Pep Band is a high-energy collegiate pep band that performs at home men’s and women’s basketball games and travels to the CAA conference tournaments (in cities like Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Baltimore, etc.) and any NCAA tournament games. As the “Soundtrack of the Phoenix,” the Phoenix Pep Band plays a wide variety of music from the Beatles and Ozzy Osbourne to Arianna Grande, Fall Out Boy, and everything in between. There is also a small per-game scholarship (~$20 a game). The band is open to any student on campus that plays a wind instrument, drum set, or electric bass.
