Outreach
Communicating science to the public, engaging schoolchildren in physics and engineering activities, and using science and engineering for the common good are all part of being a responsible citizen-scientist. Elon students have many opportunities to plug into such activities through physics and engineering clubs, service-learning classes, internships, and research projects alongside the faculty in the department. Some of the recent outreach initiatives from members of the department, to which students are welcomed to contribute, include the following. Please contact the faculty member below if you are interested in exploring any of these outreach opportunities.
- Physics Club organizes Space Week to coincide with visit of Neil DeGrasse Tyson (Society of Physics Students)
- Designing, commissioning, and running a rural science education center in India (Martin Kamela)
- Sharing science and engineering with local 5th graders and high school students (Sirena Hargrove-Leak)
- Robotics for middle school and High Schools (Kyle Altmann, Tony Crider, Scott Wolter)
- Astronomy and science inspired creative writing (Claudine Moreau)
