Grants for Students
Alumni and friends of the Religious Studies department have made generous contributions to support current majors and minors in our department. In honor of our alumni, and with sincere gratitude for their partnership in our work, the Religious Studies department faculty offers “Alumni Grants” to support our current students.
All full-time students who are majors or minors in Religious Studies/Interreligious Studies are eligible for receipt of grants. Students should consult with a faculty member before applying.
Scholarships
The Religious Studies department has generous scholarship monies available for students who major or minor in Religious Studies/Interreligious Studies; other students who take Religious Studies courses are also eligible to apply. Information about these scholarships is made available each spring.
Awards and Honor Society
At the end of each year, the Religious Studies department offers awards and inducts students into Theta Alpha Kappa, the national honors society for religious studies.
Undergraduate Research
Elon University is a leading university in undergraduate research, and the Religious Studies Department includes several nationally recognized experts in Undergraduate Research in Religious Studies.
The Department encourages interested and committed students to conduct independent research with a faculty mentor, including Honors and Fellows projects for students.
Honors Thesis
Students in the Honors program should consult our web page on undergraduate research, which lists the mentoring interests and availability of faculty members. Having selected a potential faculty mentor, the student should make an appointment with that professor to discuss possible thesis topics. Please consult our Honors Thesis website for more information about the Honors thesis and the Religious Studies major.
Study Abroad
Studying abroad can be a uniquely transformative part of your college experience and can be an integral part of your Religious Studies major or minor. The Isabella Canon Global Education Center has several programs that are of particular interest to majors and minors in Religious Studies.
Request a Recommendation
We look forward to writing recommendations for internships, scholarships, study abroad, graduate school and employment. Writing a strong letter of recommendation, however, is time consuming. If you are requesting a recommendation from a Religious Studies faculty member, please use our Recommendation Request Form or click the link below to learn more.
Religious Studies Social Club
The Religious Studies Social Club is a place to make community in a group of students interested in religious studies! We meet bi-weekly and do fun activities like pizza parties, movie screenings, and game nights. Hope you can join us!
