Build your skills with the Center for Organizational Analytics
If you’d like to gain practical knowledge and experience in data analytics, the Elon Center for Organizational Analytics invites you to participate in its activities.
Collaborate with your peers on student-led projects for external industry and non-profit partners, which involve data analytics implementations which may comprise data cleansing and preparation, descriptive and/or predictive modeling, and visualization. Typically, a team of two to four student members, with one student being the Team Lead, collaborate on these data analytics projects along with the client’s representatives.
To join a student project team, you need the following:
- A 3.3 GPA or higher
- Knowledge of Excel
- Proficiency and experience in at least Python, R, SQL, or Tableau through coursework or certified training (via Coursera or LinkedIn Learning)
It is preferred but not essential for you to have prior experience working with databases, statistical projects or data analytics projects.
If you’d like to get involved, but don’t meet the above requirements, you’re still welcome to participate in center activities, irrespective of current skill level. Current student members and professors will guide you on how best to acquire the necessary technical skills to achieve the proficiency needed for direct participation in projects.
The Center hosts its weekly meetings on Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. in Sankey 116 to discuss projects.
For more information, contact Student Ambassador Gwen Hollingsworth or Prof. Hyunuk Kim, director of the Center for Organizational Analytics.
