Advancing Teaching & Learning
The Center offers a wide range of programming and services focused on
- enhancing teaching effectiveness,
- fostering innovative, evidence-based teaching and learning practices,
- promoting critical reflection, and
- researching the impact of pedagogical and curricular choices.
Consultation services, workshops, and faculty learning communities are available at no cost to individual full-time faculty, part-time faculty and other teaching staff, as well as for departments and programs. Some grant and fellowship programs are limited to full-time faculty.
Core programs and services include:
- Consultations and Midterm Student Focus Groups with individuals or departments
- Grants to support innovative, scholarly, and inclusive teaching practices for engaged learning
- Programs designed to help advance teaching and learning and scholarship of teaching and learning projects
- Interdisciplinary groups or Communities of Practice focused on course and assignment design, mutual mentoring, or on specific topics of common interest to foster the exchange of ideas, designing effective teaching and learning environments, and problem solving.
- Workshops & Events
CATL also strives to develop new programming and services responsive to the needs of individual faculty as well as to the broader community. We frequently tailor workshops or discussions for groups or departments around shared teaching and learning topics.
We invite you to request a workshop, or to share ideas for new programs or workshops with us or to contact us at catl@elon.edu with ideas or questions.
