Overview of CATL grants

CATL offers a number of funding opportunities for innovative, inclusive, and evidence-based teaching and learning projects or scholarly presentations related to teaching and learning.

Funding Opportunity Eligibility Application Due Date Amount
CATL Scholars Fellowship Full-time, ongoing teaching faculty Friday, September 20, 2024, by 5 pm. Two-year fellowship, including $2,500 in project funds and 2 course reassignments per year (or the equivalent applied toward summer stipends and/or project funds).
Teaching and Learning Grants Full-time, ongoing teaching faculty Fall: Monday, October 14, 2024, by 5 pm.

Spring: Friday, April 11, 2025, by 5 pm.

Grants of $1000-$5000 support innovative, inclusive and/or scholarly teaching and learning projects through funds for start-up and one-time expenses; they do not support ongoing operational costs or disciplinary research.
Diversity and Inclusion Grants Teams of 2-5 faculty, staff and/or students led by a full-time, ongoing teaching faculty member Friday, March 7, 2025, by 5 pm. $1,000 stipend for each team member + $500 for project expenses

Grants support teams of faculty developing inclusive teaching practices that foster success for students of all academic and social backgrounds, including developing materials for a course or program to pilot best practices in inclusive pedagogy.

Teaching Conference Reimbursement Grants (virtual & in person) Full-time, ongoing teaching faculty Grants are currently closed. Please come back in Spring 2025. Grants supplement matching funds to present on or participate in virtual or in-person teaching and learning or SOTL conferences and programs.
Mini Grants Full-time, ongoing teaching faculty Grants are currently closed. Please come back in Spring 2025. Grants of up to $500 support

a) course-related student engagement, and can be used to fund materials or experiences for innovative, active or engaged learning

b) individual or departmental professional development for teaching or pedagogy

Winter Term Enhancement Grants Faculty, includes part-time faculty Friday, November 15, 2024, by 5 pm. up to $400

Grants support assignments, activities or events that deepen student learning and enrich your Winter Term course on campus.
