Elon Experiences
“Hold on tight! You will work harder than you probably expect, but it will be worth it! Also, make sure to take time from work to build relationships.”
– Advice for your first year
The Elon Experiences are a collection of dynamic programs that emphasize applying academic learning in experiential contexts through study abroad, service, internships, leadership, and undergraduate research. These experiences reflect Elon’s core values: an appreciation for cultural diversity, an ethic of service, a strong work ethic, a commitment to civic responsibility and a love of learning. Participation in the Elon Experiences is an essential part of every student’s preparation to be a lifelong learner and global citizen. Every Elon undergraduate is required to complete at least two Experiential Learning Requirements as part of the Core Curriculum.
Faculty are encouraged to teach study abroad or service-learning courses, mentor students in research projects, supervise their leadership and internship experiences, and join in service done by campus organizations or the Kernodle Center.
