In Memoriam

Elon University School of Law remembers the contributions and legacy of Dean Emeritus and Professor of Law George R. Johnson, Jr., who died November 15, 2020, following a lengthy illness. Dean Johnson was a graduate of Columbia Law and was a founding faculty member of Elon Law. He guided Elon Law through its first accreditation process with the American Bar Association and served as a mentor to countless students, notably in his role as an advisor to the Black Law Students Association. The Class of 2020 honors the memory of Dean Johnson with his posthumous election to serve as a Commencement faculty marshal.
