Meet the 2024 Communications Fellows

The School of Communications welcomes its 2024 class of Communications Fellows. Fellows wrote their own mini biographies, which you can read below.

Drew Antin hails from the bright lights and serene sounds of beautiful Times Square, New York, where he graduated from the prestigious New York City Lab High School for Collaborative Studies. As a high school athlete, Drew was a standout third baseman with a power bat who lead the team in RBIs his junior year and earned four varsity letters. From his first year to his senior year, Drew has been writing articles for TheSportsCol.com about games, contract extensions and team analysis. Sophomore year, he started the Sports Management and Finance club, grossing over 40 students in a school of under 450. He led the way with a slideshow every week followed by heated discussions of the biggest stories in sports. He is ecstatic to work with the experienced professors and faculty at Elon in order to reach his goal of entering the sports world.

 

Katie Bennert grew up in Cumberland, Maine, where she graduated from Greely High School. In high school, Katie was the captain of her lacrosse team and earned all-academic state team honors for both soccer and lacrosse. She was also a member of Spanish National Honor Society. Katie fostered her love for sports at a young age through the collective influence of team sport participation and an avid consumption of sports media. Her love of game logistics and statistics sparked her passion for sports journalism and broadcasting. Outside of school, Katie likes to travel, expand her literary creativity in the form of short story composition, envelop herself in all genres of music and watch reruns of hockey and football games. At Elon, Katie is looking forward to studying Sport Management and Journalism. She is honored and humbled to be a Communications Fellow and can’t wait for the next four years at Elon.

 

Katy Boehmer-Abbott grew up in Hillsborough, New Jersey, where she attended Hillsborough High School. Katy graduated with high honors, and she was an active member of the National Honor Society. Throughout high school, she studied Spanish and grew an appreciation for the culture. She was a member of the Spanish Honor Society, and she earned her biliteracy certificate. Outside of the classroom, Katy volunteered for her town’s Extended School Year program. In the summer, Katy worked with students with learning disabilities and prepared them for the upcoming school year. Katy also spent her summers as a volunteer soccer and field hockey coach at various camps. At a young age, Katy discovered her love for sports and the power they have to connect people. At the age of 4, Katy began to play soccer, and she was a member of her club team for 10 years. Throughout high school, she was a member of her school’s varsity soccer team. Katy always cherished the time she spent on the field, but she also greatly appreciated the community formed by the game. The strong relationships she created on the field led to lifelong connections off it. At Elon University, Katy is eager to continue her love for sports and the community it creates as a Sport Management major.

 

Becca Chase looks forward to studying Communications to learn more about how organizations and communities can best tell their stories to the world. After a globe-trotting early childhood as a foreign service kid, Becca grew up in Arlington, Virginia, where she graduated from Bishop O’Connell High School. She has a passion for community service and organizing her fellow students to get involved on behalf of worthwhile causes. She led the communications team for Superdance, Bishop O’Connell’s annual fundraiser to fight cystic fibrosis. She also served on the Washington, D.C., area organizing committee for the St. Jude Teen Gala, a major philanthropic event. Becca volunteered with the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, a national NGO dedicated to supporting families of America’s fallen service members. She interned in the communications and government affairs department of a major Washington, D.C., trade organization. Becca plans to bring her keen interest in writing to Elon News Network and Live Oak Communications. She’s excited to major in Strategic Communications, and potentially Political Science, with the goal of pursuing a career in corporate communications, law or public policy.

 

Camille Duplechain is from Annapolis, Maryland, where she graduated summa cum laude from Annapolis High School with a diploma from the International Baccalaureate program. Camille’s participation in the performing and visual arts program at her middle school sparked her interest in creative writing and public speaking. In high school, she put her public speaking skills to work as elected class secretary for three consecutive years. Camille participated in various extracurricular activities in high school, including varsity field hockey and swimming, performing with her school’s drama company and volunteering with her school’s Key Club. In her free time, she enjoys practicing her photography and videography skills. She also loves traveling and has been able to spend time abroad in Costa Rica, France, Scotland and Italy. Camille is excited to continue her education at Elon University as a Communications Fellow majoring in Communication Design.

 

Emma Farrell graduated from T.R. Robinson High School in Tampa, Florida. It was one of three high schools she attended, including Beavercreek High School in Dayton, Ohio, and Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Emma has ever-growing passion for journalism and communications and has been involved in her school’s journalism programs throughout her high school career. In her first and sophomore years, she joined her school’s broadcast journalism class, where she helped create the Sunshine State Spirit showdown winning video in 2017. Emma also had the opportunity to work with a local news station to film and broadcast her school’s football games. In her junior year, Emma was part of the newspaper staff, writing editorials concerning issues students are facing in high school, such as mental health and drug usage. She also posted articles bi-weekly on the school’s virtual news site called The Beacon. In her senior year, Emma was a part of the yearbook staff, for which she produced a number of spreads, one of which won an All- Florida award from the Florida Scholastic Press Association. Although journalism is a passion of hers, Emma plans to explore communication design in an effort to combine two of her interests: art and math. She is excited to be a part of Elon’s Communication Fellows program and is grateful for the opportunity to further explore her passions.

 

Heath Foster grew up in Atlanta, where he graduated with high honors as a member of the National Honor Society, the National Art Honor Society and the Rho Kappa National Honor Society. He took on a surplus of leadership roles, including a membership as a part of the Round Square leadership team, for which he represented his high school as a delegate at global conferences in both Charlotte, North Carolina, and Indore, India, where he built deep and long-lasting relationships with students from six continents. An avid artist, he took to photography quickly and developed impressive skills working in both film and digital formats. He’s traveled the world capturing landscapes and people, including a month-long journey across the South Island of New Zealand with National Geographic. He ran on a state champion cross country team and played as both a starting attackman and offensive midfielder on his varsity lacrosse team, leading them to an undefeated record before his final season was cut short. Heath is enthusiastic about the ample opportunities Elon has to provide and hopes to further develop his writing and artistic talents as he pursues a career in design media.

 

Chloe Franklin was raised in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and graduated from Lake Pointe Academy with distinction. Chloe has always had a passion for sports and was an active member of her church. She was a gymnast for 10 years, ran cross-country, played volleyball, captained her varsity basketball team her senior year, and aided her church in several capacities. Chloe was also a prominent member of Student Council at her high school. She exhibited and cultivated several leadership qualities while serving her school and others for two consecutive years. Chloe also participated in two programs last summer that will help her in the School of Communications. She attended a week-long journalism camp at George Mason University and another at the University of Georgia. While attending the George Mason University journalism camp, Chloe interviewed Patrice Smith, the deputy press secretary for Tim Scott, R-S.C., on Capitol Hill. At the University of Georgia’s journalism camp, Chloe shot, edited and appeared in a two-minute news video clip. These experiences confirmed Chloe’s interest in becoming a news reporter, so she plans to study Journalism to become a news anchor one day. Chloe is excited to attend Elon University as a Communications Fellow and begin a new chapter in her life.

 

Abbey Goodchild grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where she graduated summa cum laude from St. Thomas Aquinas High School. She is a member of National Honor Society, National Latin Honor Society, National English Honor Society and National Rho Kappa Honor Society. In her senior year of high school, she became vice president of National Art Honor Society. From an early age, Abbey found herself designing and painting whenever she could, and she pursued this passion throughout her high school career, becoming the chairperson of Art and Decor for the class of 2020. She designed countless T-shirts and coordinated the creation of various Homecoming artistic displays and class competitions. She is also a Miami Herald Silver Knight Award Nominee, an honor reserved for students who demonstrate strong records of service to their school and community. In her free time, she loves baking, traveling and going out with friends. Abbey is honored to be named a Communications Fellow and looks forward to further exploring the world of graphic design while collaborating with others on exciting, new projects.

 

Dara Grocer is from Dunwoody, Georgia, where she graduated from Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School. When she toured her high school, she saw herself becoming active in the school’s broadcast journalism program (WHIS), which features a weekly newscast. As a first-year student, she co-anchored the broadcast that was awarded ninth place in the “Best Broadcast Program” category at the National Scholastic Press Association/Journalism Education Association Spring Convention. Dara became executive producer of WHIS her junior and senior years, earned the Academic Award for Outstanding Achievement in Broadcast Journalism and was inducted into the Quill and Scroll International Honor Society. She finds mentoring other students and watching them improve the most rewarding part of being a producer. Dara played varsity tennis sophomore through senior years. In addition, she served as tour guide for prospective families and was president of her school’s Jewish Student Union. In her free time, she cherishes spending time with her friends and traveling to new places. She is honored to be a Communications Fellow and can’t wait for the school year to begin.

 

Daneiriss Gutierrez was born and raised in Burlington, North Carolina, only 12 minutes from Elon University. She attended the Alamance Burlington Early College at Alamance Community College and graduated with a two-year degree, managing to balance internships, a fulfilling social life and a 4.7 weighted GPA. She is a first-generation high school and community college graduate and first-generation college student. She has been deeply passionate about creating from a young age, taking a liking to drawing, recording videos and creative writing. Daneiriss is fascinated by all aspects of communicating, as she learned English as a second language and understands the importance of people conveying thoughts and ideas effectively. She used her affinity for communication to her advantage in her extracurriculars, helping with social media management, advertising and interpersonal interactions with community members. Daneiriss is an Elon Academy Mu Scholar and was a part of the National Honor Society and Key Club. She is also the former social media coordinator of ACC’s PRISM LGBTQ+ group and a part of the Early College’s Student Government Association as a representative and, eventually, president. She helped organize numerous student social events, fundraisers and her small school’s largest prom. Outside these activities, Daneiriss is always looking to support her community by volunteering with local campaigns and service organizations and encouraging support for local and BIPOC run businesses.

 

Timothy Houlahan has always had a passion for storytelling. After being exposed to his father’s video camera at a young age, Tim further tried to expand his passion for storytelling through the lens of a camera. Since then, Tim has made several films, some of which made it to festivals outside his home state and even internationally. He learned to improve by taking filmmaking classes at Albemarle High School, his alma mater. Aside from his coursework, Tim took on a 140-hour internship program with Silver Streak Media, a company that produces wedding videos and video editing services. Tim used this opportunity to work on his editing and cinematography skills. Outside of the film sphere, Tim was also a part of his school’s National Honor Society and was dedicated to learning about English and history. Tim has always loved to learn and is extremely excited to for his next four years at Elon University as a Communications fellow and Cinema & Television Arts major.

 

Jenna Manderioli is from Randolph, New Jersey, and attended the Morris County School of Technology. MCST names a top student for each of its academy programs, and Jenna graduated as the Academy Scholar for the Academy of Visual Performing Arts – Multimedia. Jenna’s enhanced, career-focused high school education allowed her to develop skills in film, marketing, public speaking and journalism. She first found her passion for communications through creative photography. Jenna held leadership roles within her academy as a head photographer and magazine editor for annual school showcases and events, and she made promotional videos for several school clubs. She was a state regional finalist for Poetry Out Loud and a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society and International Thespian Society. Both in and out of school, Jenna was involved in musical theater. She was her school’s first-ever student music director for the high school production of “Tuck Everlasting.” She’s had a love for singing and theater since she was little, and Jenna spent a lot of her time at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, New Jersey, where she worked as an assistant teacher for kids’ musical theater classes and as a peer mentor for the Miracle Project, a program consisting of theater classes for children and adults with special needs. She was also a member of their renowned Performing Arts Company, a group of high school students that performed at community events, non-profits, and venues such as Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden. Music has always been an important part of Jenna’s life, and she is always eager for adventures and new experiences. Jenna is incredibly honored to be a Communications Fellow and she is excited for four years at Elon filled with inspiration, growth and community.

 

Catie Mannato is from Collegeville, Pennsylvania, and is a graduate of Villa Maria Academy High School. Catie participated in various extracurricular activities during high school. In her sophomore year, she joined her school’s literary arts magazine, Festival, where she discovered her passions for graphic design, writing and photography. Catie served as a Festival staff member and eventually became editor-in-chief in her senior year, a position that strengthened her leadership abilities and developed her graphic design work in various programs like Adobe InDesign. Catie was a member of the National Honor Society, the Quill and Scroll Honor Society, and she was the president of the Latin Honor Society. In addition, Catie was a three-sport varsity athlete as a swimmer and runner, and during her senior year she led the cross country team as a captain. Catie was also an active member of service-oriented organizations, serving as a representative of the Mission and Ministry Program, president of the Global Sisterhood Initiative and a volunteer for her YMCA’s Shooting Stars Program for children with special needs. Catie also has expanded her interests in graphic design as an employee/intern in the communications department of national propane retail company AmeriGas Propane and at local clothing boutique Piccolo Boutique. She created websites, as well as wrote and edited advertisements and articles for both AmeriGas and Piccolo. At Elon, Catie will continue to pursue her interests in graphic design, writing and photography by majoring in Communication Design and Journalism. She is honored and humbled to be a Communications Fellow.

 

Britt Mobley was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he graduated from Millbrook High School. During his high school career, he led and represented his school in multiple capacities. Britt was a part of the Millbrook Marching Band, serving as the band president and helping facilitate rehearsals and performances. Britt has a passion for the arts and plays the upright bass and a plethora of percussive instruments, so you can always find him playing some type of music wherever he goes. He has also served as an executive producer of the Digital Media Career Academy, managing the entire academy with a specialization in web design. Britt was also able to serve Millbrook as it’s student body president. In this role, he was responsible for hosting and creating student-run events that would bring students together as one Wildcat family. He also represented his student body as part of the Wake County Superintendent’s Student Leadership Council for two years. Britt is excited and honored to be attending Elon University as an Odyssey Scholar and Communications Fellow. He plans to pursue a degree in Cinema & Television Arts.

 

Madison Mursch is from Sarasota, Florida, and graduated from Riverview High school with honors. There, she discovered her passion for storytelling and leadership, taking on the role of editor-in-chief of her school’s newspaper, where she led students to produce monthly print issues. Madison has also dedicated her time as an officer of the Papillon Club, a mentoring and community service organization for female underclassmen. Through her secretarial position, Madison helped facilitate communications between other organizations and the general student body in order to further female inclusivity within her school community. Madison has proudly maintained membership in her school’s various honor societies, including the National Honor Society, English National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and Quill & Scroll International Journalism Society. Madison has dedicated much of her time outside of school to pursuing a pre-professional ballet career, training with both The Sarasota Ballet Company’s Margaret Barbieri Conservatory and the Sarasota Cuban Ballet throughout her high school career. Additionally, Madison has served as a student intern writer for a local Sarasota community magazine. While she is unsure of what opportunities the future may hold, Madison hopes to pursue degrees in Journalism and Strategic Communications. She is honored to be a Communications fellow and can’t wait to see where this opportunity takes her over the next four years at Elon.

 

Mya Osborne grew up in Philadelphia, where she graduated from Abington Friends School. Throughout high school, Mya was deeply involved in a multitude of academic and athletic activities. She was a member of the varsity soccer and lacrosse teams and the Black Student Union, and she served as a peer tutor. During her senior year, Mya was also captain of the cross country and track and field teams, co-clerk of the Disciplinary Advisory Committee and active in the Student Ambassadors Program. It was during her time as a student ambassador that Mya began to develop a strong passion for media and communications, as she was given the opportunity to work closely with the communications and marketing programs at AFS. More specifically, her responsibilities included helping run the school’s social media accounts, recording important school events and posting student and faculty interviews. Mya also worked at Able2Connect Inc., and was solely responsible for brainstorming, researching and writing the agency’s monthly newsletter. Mya plans to work toward a dual degree in Media Analytics and Journalism at Elon University. She is honored to be a Communications Fellow and is looking forward to cultivating a deeper passion for learning and communications.

 

Reagan Palombo is from Greensboro, North Carolina, where she graduated from Northwest Guilford High School. While in school, she played varsity soccer for four years and became a captain her senior year. She also worked for the varsity football team alongside the coaches, taking pictures and running social media accounts. She has had a passion for football ever since she was young and plans to work in the NFL. Equality for women in the workplace of male-dominated sports is important to Reagan, and she plans to continue this passion at Elon. Reagan also served as a member of the student council. When not watching football or playing soccer, she loves to hang out with her family and friends and go to the beach. Reagan can’t wait to get started at Elon and is honored to be a Communications Fellow.

 

Lily Parikh is from Vernon Hills, Illinois, where she graduated from Vernon Hills High School. There, Lily was involved in her school’s theatre company and performed in many musicals and plays. Music is an important part of Lily’s life, and she was involved in several choirs, including a community choir and an a cappella group. Each spring, Lily also danced with her school’s Orchesis Dance Company, where she got the chance to choreograph and perform in front of her family and friends. In high school, Lily realized that her love of social media and YouTube could actually lead to a career and became interested in Journalism and Strategic Communications. She was a staff member for her school magazine, The Scratching Post, where she specialized in layout and design. In addition, she was an active member of  he National Honor Society. Lily is excited to join the Elon community and learn more about the communications field.

 

Tucker Price is from Cary, North Carolina, where he graduated magna cum laude from Green Hope High School. In high school, he was an active member of the Green Hope band program, participating in marching band, where he became second-part leader for the baritone section and relations co-chair for the marching and jazz bands. He was first chair of the jazz band for two years. In the latter half of his high school career, he became an active staff member of Green Hope’s student publication, The Falcon, where he earned a position as news editor after a year of involvement. As news editor, he encouraged his colleagues to keep stories both interesting and relevant to Green Hope itself. Through his participation in both the Green Hope band program and The Falcon, he gained leadership skills and a passion for collaboration, which he continues to explore as he furthers his education. He plans to spend his next four years at Elon studying to become a journalist, hoping to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps. He looks forward to collaborating with his peers and learning along with them as they venture into their future endeavors.

 

Drew Reuschlein was born and raised in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and has been fascinated by film and communication since he was a kid. He graduated from Quince Orchard High School with high honors in his school’s media production program, and he completed the AP Signature Programs in music and social studies. Drew was the editor-in-chief of his school’s weekly sketch-comedy news show, QOTV. He was responsible for writing and directing informative segments, composing original background music and piecing together the entire show. In addition to TV production, Drew took on leadership roles in his music classes. In his a capella choir class, he served as a section leader, and he directed and co-founded the QO Men’s Choir club. Both inside and outside of the classroom, Drew is constantly seeking out opportunities to put his creative mind to use, whether that means writing his own screenplays for fun or attending local sporting events to film and edit highlight reels. In his free time, Drew loves writing and producing music, watching movies and talking about philosophy. Drew is excited, honored and grateful to be able to pursue his passions and discover his future as a Communications Fellow at Elon University.

 

Elliot Rezek is from New Bern, North Carolina, where he graduated from New Bern High School. After arriving in North Carolina from Mississippi before his sophomore year, Elliot helped revive the school’s theatre program and participated in its first production since 2001. He was an officer in the school’s chapter of the International Thespian Society and a member of New Bern High’s Gay Straight Alliance and the Boy Scouts of America. Throughout high school, Elliot was involved in both the school and community theatre programs in various roles, including assistant director and stage and lighting designer and programmer. He visited Elon’s campus his junior year, fell in love with communications and storytelling, and spent the next year dreaming of the careers and possibilities that Elon and the Communications Fellows program could offer. Elliot is majoring in Cinema and Television Arts and hopes to learn all aspects of media production.

 

Cailey Rogers grew up as an expat, moving to different countries around the world every few years. She was born in Mexico and has since lived in Nicaragua, Hong Kong, Mexico (again) and, finally, North Carolina. Through her travels, she has studied several languages and cultures first-hand and is fluent in both English and Spanish, with some knowledge of French and Mandarin. Cailey has explored multiple activities while in different countries, but, most notably, she served as the captain of her soccer team while living in Merida, Mexico. Though her life has been full of change, Cailey found a constant in her love for literature and storytelling. In each of her schools, she focused on developing her passion for writing. As a sophomore, she completed a personal project in which she self-published a book of short stories based on her own memoirs from living around the world. She took multiple creative writing classes during high school and in her senior year became the editor of the nonfiction sections of the inaugural literary magazine of Apex Friendship High School, where she graduated summa cum laude and one of the top 10 students in her class. In her free time, she enjoys reading her new favorite novel, listening to her collection of vintage vinyl records or thinking up a story idea. But she has also begun to develop an interest in cinema and video creation. At Elon, Cailey hopes not only to continue to expand her love for writing, but she also plans to take advantage of all of the incredible opportunities that being a Communications Fellow presents.

 

Daniel Schulman is from Larchmont, New York, but grew up around the world in Australia, Switzerland and Israel. He graduated from Mamaroneck High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, played varsity tennis and was president of the Sport Management Club. Outside of school, he worked as an assistant tennis pro and was a sports content promoter for an online social media community. From a young age, starting with watching uninterrupted 90-minute European soccer matches when he was only 4, Daniel has been a big sports fan, particularly when it comes to college and professional football and basketball. He is also a huge New York Yankees fan, who watched Derek Jeter reach 3,000 hits at his first MLB game. Daniel is excited about majoring in Sport Management at Elon and being a Communications Fellow, and he hopes to turn his love of sports into a lifelong career.

 

Graysen Shirley is from Greensboro, North Carolina, where she graduated from Greensboro Day School as a member of the National Honor Society. In high school, she was an editor of the yearbook, played viola with the orchestra and led environmental cleanups. Graysen was first introduced to communications when hearing about her teacher’s experiences as a reporter and after taking a media studies class. Hearing stories from reporters and her teacher inspired Graysen to find her own writing voice and to share others’ journeys both locally and abroad. During her senior year and over the summer, Graysen interned as a junior writer with her neighborhood’s magazine, Irving Park Living. As part of the internship, Graysen has enjoyed getting to interview and share others’ stories with her neighborhood. Graysen is also often found with a camera in hand, ready to capture anything interesting or unique. She loves getting to experiment with different styles, including both film and digital photography. Graysen also has  a passion for traveling, having been to Guatemala, England and Scotland. She loves being immersed in different cultures and documenting a variety of lifestyles. Graysen is honored to be a part of the Communications Fellows program at Elon and is planning to double major in Journalism and Media Analytics.

 

Eliza Tews was born in Rochester, New York, but grew up in Frederick, Maryland. She graduated with high honors from Urbana High School, where she was a member of her school’s ambassador program and National Honor Society, as well as historian of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. Eliza started dancing at the age of 3 and has been a part of the Urbana Dance Competition Team and Urbana High Dance Company as an All-County dancer throughout high school. Eliza is continuing her passion for dance at Elon as a member of the Elon Dance Team. Additionally, as her dance studio’s promotional director, she has created a variety of videos to promote her studio and ultimately found her passion for film. She plans to continue her journey as a dual major in Cinema & Television Arts and Media Analytics. Eliza is honored to be a member of the Communications Fellows program, and she is looking forward to pursuing what she loves at Elon.

 

Miles Vance grew up in Roanoke, Virginia, where he attended Cave Spring High School and the Burton Center for Art and Technology. During high school, he became an Eagle Scout, won a state championship with the scholastic bowl team, and worked in information technology. His first brush with the field of communications came when he began an internship in a music studio, where he produced dozens of songs and albums and had the opportunity to create a music video for a local band. He looks forward to using the photography, video, music, art and writing to create dialogue and inspire people. He is proud to be a Phoenix and is excited for the opportunity to be a Communications Fellow.

 


Naomi Washington was born in Burlington County, New Jersey. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, playing soccer and being on camera. Naomi is a recent alumna of Atholton High School in Columbia, Maryland, where she served as vice president of the the Black Student Union and the an editor and video series anchor for the Raider Review, Atholton’s school newspaper. It’s no secret that her experiences in high school inspired her passion for news. During her time as co-president of the Atholton’s Principal Advisory Committee, Naomi had the opportunity to not only make change within the community but also share that with others through the Raider Review. The highlight of her senior year was having the opportunity to be a year-long Gifted and Talented student intern at HopeWorks of Howard County Domestic Violence Crisis Center, while conducting an independent research project on “Eliminating the Domestic Violence of Women in Communities of Color.” Another milestone event from the past year was her trip to the United Nations General Assembly Conference by the Journalist and Writers Foundation where she served as a part of a youth delegation group and interviewed world leaders. Naomi takes pride in her past volunteer work at a community cold weather homeless shelter, Atholton National Honor Society, Becca’s Closet Dress Drive and Howard County Central Library. She plans to continue being an activist with a vibrant presence in several organizations at Elon.

 

Macklin Williams hails from Falmouth, Maine, where he graduated with honors from Falmouth High School. He has always shown a strong interest in sports, playing soccer, basketball and baseball from the age of 4. He also began playing lacrosse and baseball in the spring season of fourth grade. In high school, he was an active member of Smile Society, which focuses on bringing a positive and uplifting environment to his school community. In his senior year, he was a two-sport captain in basketball and soccer. His soccer team won the 2019 Class A Maine state championship, defeating three-time defending champion Lewiston by a score of 5-2. Macklin was ready to go for his senior lacrosse season, looking for a third straight state championship game appearance and a rookie season in ultimate frisbee. Sadly, COVID-19 ended spring sports. So Macklin decided to use what the Maine outdoors has to offer. He developed a passion for fishing and exploring the world-class hiking and camping Maine has to offer. Macklin is excited to be a Communications Fellow and see where the next four years will take him in the industry of sport.

 

Cedar Zobel-Williams was born and raised in Roslindale and Newton, Massachusetts. He graduated cum laude from Beaver Country Day School. He was the club leader of his Outdoor and Environmental Club and captain of his baseball team. Cedar is an avid sports lover, playing soccer, baseball and basketball during his high school career. He has interned for his athletic department and volunteered his time in admissions. He also enjoys video and audio production. He has created countless videos and podcasts for those around him to enjoy. When he’s not playing sports, he’s outside, whether that be officiating an adult flag football league or working at an outdoor summer camp. This summer, Cedar started his own online summer camp – which boasted more than 30 members – aimed at getting young kids outside and in nature. He is ready to continue his passions at Elon and is honored to be a Communications Fellow majoring in Sport Management.
