Elon University is located in central North Carolina and is regularly recognized as one of the nation’s most beautiful college campuses. Since 2010, Elon has invested robustly in the interdisciplinary study of religion. Those commitments are articulated through a series of Multifaith Strategic Plans, including the current plan running from 2022-2030. Elon is home to a nine-member Religious Studies department with faculty expertise in religion represented in many other departments. Elon’s Center for the Study of Religion, Culture, and Society works across campus and beyond to develop programming and support interdisciplinary research on the role of religion in society. Multifaith Scholars at Elon is recognized as one of the nation’s leading undergraduate research programs.
The 2025 On the Edge symposium will be held in the Numen Lumen Pavilion on Elon’s Academic Village. “Numen Lumen” is Elon University’s motto, Latin for “spiritual light and intellectual light.” The Numen Lumen Pavilion houses the Elon Center for the Study of Religion, Culture and Society and the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life.
