What is a QEP?
A Quality Enhancement Plan, or QEP for short, is a university-wide plan for improving student learning over a five-year period. It is a part of the accreditation process with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), which is committed to advancing the quality of higher education. Institution accredited by SACSCOC are required to determine the student learning needs and develop a QEP to improve student learning.
Elon’s overarching goal for its 2023-28 QEP is to enhance student learning of the knowledge and skills required for working with data during and after their college experience. Because data encountered varies by field or discipline and because the specific tools, theories and models used to analyze and interpret data are often context specific, we have defined “data competency” broadly, while building a plan that will provide support for learning opportunities in specific data-driven curricular and co-curricular academic experiences.
