In this course, students will learn to visualize and compare attributes of a data set, analyze data for pertinent information, and develop models that estimate relationships among variables in the data. Students will work in groups to evaluate the impact of Seed Effect’s savings-led program on ONE outcome. In this final project, students will use authentic administrative (client) data. Because it is a COR class, data will be cleaned ahead of time. However, they must use the data to assess the impact of the program (or a particular feature of the program) using difference in difference regression analysis. This requires developing an model appropriate to their research question. Because the ultimate audience is the client, students will also have to create effective visuals to present (rather than regression output) to the client. Students will write a formal report for the client that will consist primarily of data visuals that are tied to the rigorous best-practice methodologies found in this scientific literature and will make a formal group presentation to the “client” based on their analysis. Achieves technology student learning outcomes c, d, and e.
