In this class, Students are asked to critically evaluate common research methods used in cognitive psychology and determine how those methods could change the data and therefore the conclusions researchers make. Additionally, students are asked to assess how and why participant behaviors or methodological changes would impact results in different ways, synthesizing data with theory and contextual factors. Students use the COGLAB software to collect data and interpret different data visualizations, including heat maps, bar/line graphs, and standardized metrics. A particular emphasis is placed on understanding and interpreting graphs, and how to determine if data support or fail to support hypotheses. Achieves technology student learning outcomes c and d.
