Position Title: Graduate Apprentice for the Center for Race, Ethnicity, & Diversity Education.

Department: Center for Race, Ethnicity & Diversity Education (CREDE)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and facilitation of workshops, dialogues, and initiatives supporting diversity education and events related to identity development and social justice.
  • Coordinate scheduling, room reservations, and preparation of materials for diversity- focus events and workshops
  • Maintain and update resource materials related to diversity education initiatives
  • Oversee the DEEP Rooted in Social Justice Student coordinators and DEEP programming
  • Oversee the Diversity Grant by promoting and advertising it, reviewing applications and eligibility requirements, selecting recipients, notifying them, and providing follow-up support to student organizations. In collaboration with the Associate Director, the GA will also manage the $5,000 fund allocation.
  • Support the Associate Director and the Assistant Directors in signature programming which include recruitment, training, and development for the SMART Mentoring Program and the Student Coordinator program.
  • Support the Associate Director and the Assistant Director with advocacy and support of ALANAM communities

The MHE students will gain theoretical and practical experience in identity development, facilitation of diversity education programs, assessment and evaluation, supervision, advising, marketing, program administration and staff development. These skill sets coupled with curricular experiences, knowledge, and dispositions, will allow the MHE student to be prepared to enter the job market.
