Mentored Undergraduate Research
Fellows engage in inquiry with a faculty mentor that involves an investigation of a problem or question related to their education interests. This project helps Fellows develop research, thinking, learning, and reflection skills that can benefit them throughout their careers in education. Fellows submit a proposal for their inquiry project during fall of sophomore year and showcase findings in spring of junior year at Elon’s Spring Undergraduate Research Forum (SURF). Other opportunities for presentation include local, state, national and international professional conferences and Elon’s Summer Undergraduate Research Experiences (SURE).
Fellows are encouraged to apply for course credit and funding through the Undergraduate Research program. Fellows may choose to apply for the Lumen Prize during spring of sophomore year. The Lumen Prize provides $20,000 of support for the undergraduate research process.
