2020-21 Journal
Note From the Editors
We are excited to share this inaugural issue of Phoenix Rhetorix. The eight winning entries showcased here feature excellent writing composed in 2020-21 Elon ENG1100 courses, and all engage with issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The student writers have worked hard to compose thought-provoking pieces across a range of genres that can be used as tools for teaching and learning.
This pilot issue taught us a lot, and this journal and contest are a work in progress. Please support Phoenix Rhetorix by reading and discussing the pieces in this issue, learning from the interviews with authors and faculty, and submitting your own (or your students’) work in the future! We welcome all feedback with the hope that we can make Phoenix Rhetorix a valuable resource and can continue to celebrate first-year student authors.
Many thanks go to the student and faculty editorial teams, the faculty who teach ENG1100, and the English department. This inaugural issue would not have been possible without your support.
