Cultural exploration, lifelong memories, and unparalleled academic opportunities are at the heart of every global engagement. But with city-specific programs, dedicated research opportunities and timely events, everyone’s experience is vastly different and exciting.

Dive into some of our success stories and learn how you can start writing your own.

Study Abroad

Raheem Murphy found lifelong friends the opportunity to study abroad because of donor generosity that helped him cover the costs of his education and travels.

“Donations to Elon help people like me have the opportunity to travel and to meet people through these experiences who are going to be in our lives forever. These are the people who are going to survive through thick and thin with you. I am so grateful, and without the aid I received, it wouldn’t be possible to have the friends I have and to have accomplished all that I have here at Elon.”

Study USA

Callie Brodeur studied in Los Angeles and made connections in the entertainment industry.

“My experience in LA was eye-opening; not only did I make some pretty great friends because of this course, I was able to gain a lot of insight after talking with people who work in the industry. After meeting with a few Elon grads who have successful careers in the entertainment industry, I realized just how many more career paths are available, and that helped me feel more comfortable with being unsure of my own career choices after graduating.”

International Scholarship

Ayesh Awad, an undergrad student from Jordan, found his passion for biomedical engineering during his time at Elon.

Awad was drawn to Elon through the university’s King Hussein Scholarship, which was established by Queen Noor of Jordan during her 2000 visit to campus and is awarded once every four years to a student from that country. He learned about Elon during a visit by an international student admissions counselor to his high school and chose it because he felt “Elon cared the most about me coming and I felt like I could do the most positive work there.”

Faculty

Nermin Vehabovic, assistant professor of education, explores the use of children’s literature to address sociophobic situations aiming to analyze the origins, perpetuation, and potential challenges to social phobias.

“It’s fascinating and rewarding to watch. During every class and community engaged experience, I witness Elon students transform as people, tap into and build upon their empathy, and ultimately move towards becoming equity-minded educators.”
