Apply to be a Global Ambassador
The Global Ambassador Program
Welcome back from an exciting global experience! Now that you are back at Elon, do you find yourself talking about your experience all the time? The Isabella Cannon Global Education Center (GEC) has the perfect opportunity for you. The Global Ambassador Program is a volunteer opportunity offered through the Global Education Center (GEC) designed to engage Elon undergraduate students who have participated in an Elon study program (academic year, semester, summer, or winter term) in promoting global engagement opportunities.
Who is a Global Ambassador?
YOU! Global Ambassadors are study abroad and Study USA returnees who are passionate about their global engagement and are willing to share their insight and expertise with fellow students.
There are also two Student Coordinator positions. These students are top-notch ambassadors and more! As lead of the program, these students work as a para-professional (10-15 hrs per week) in the GEC.
What does a Global Ambassador do?
As a student representative of the GEC, a Global Ambassador will go through basic training and will utilize this knowledge, plus their own personal experiences, to conduct global engagement presentations to Elon 101 classes, and lead a number of other events, such as admission events, fairs, orientations, and one-on-one conversations with Elon students. A Global Ambassador will also have the opportunity to be part of the Phoenix Pal Program where he or she will help international students transition to Elon.
Being a Global Ambassador is an exciting opportunity that empowers students to build on their global experience, and help their fellow students develop an international scope to their academic experience. All ambassadors are expected to participate in regular bi-weekly meetings to plan and discuss activities. In addition, all ambassadors are expected to attend training meetings, held throughout spring and the beginning of the fall semester.
Global Ambassadors will gain:
- Leadership & Public-Speaking Skills
- Cross-Cultural Knowledge
- Marketing & Recruitment Experience
- Access to Professional Development Opportunities
- Other surprises along the way
