Short-Term Abroad
Find a program that aligns with your journey
Short-term Programs are Study Abroad and Study USA courses that allow students and program leaders to take part in structured activities and experiences while traveling together as a cohort, creating opportunities for mentorship and hands-on learning.
The majority of programs are offered in winter term, though options also exist for the spring and fall semesters or over the summer. Faculty-led programs – which are taught by Elon faculty and feature a small group of students who will travel, learn, and explore together – are available for winter term, semester travel-embedded, or summer programs.
Winter Term
These three- to four-week programs include a four-credit course, typically preceded by a one-credit predeparture seminar in the fall semester. They are developed and led by Elon faculty and staff members and are centered around a specified theme.
Semester Travel-Embedded (fall and spring)
These programs are semester-long courses taught on campus that include a travel component during Thanksgiving Break or Spring Break. They are developed and led by Elon faculty and staff members and focus on specific subjects.
Summer
These programs range in length from three to six weeks, and students typically earn between four and eight semester credit hours.

Non-Elon Petitions
You are required to attend Elon-vetted programs unless there is a compelling academic reason not to. If you choose to explore non-Elon programs, you must complete a petition and work with GEC staff to ensure the merit, requirements, and safety of the program.
