Curriculum

The Elon University Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program is a four-year, 140 credit hour curriculum that will qualify students to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become a licensed, registered nurse. The four-year curriculum satisfies all core requirements, includes opportunities for experiential and global learning, and is built to allow pursuit of a biology minor in addition to all nursing pre-requisites.

Nursing Prerequisite Courses

Prerequisite requirements include 24 hours of coursework, including human anatomy and physiology (8 credits), microbiology with a lab (4 credits), intro to cell biology (4 credits), lifespan development (4 credits), and nutrition (4 credits). A final grade of C or higher must be earned in these courses:

  • BIO 1112/1113: Introductory Cell Biology/Lab
  • BIO 2122: Microbiology for Health Professionals/Lab
  • BIO:2312/2313: Human Anatomy/Lab
  • BIO 2412/2413: Human Physiology/Lab
  • PSY 2100: Lifespan Development
  • PEH 3240: Nutrition

Nursing Course Requirements

Below are the nursing courses students will complete during their Students will need to earn a minimum final grade of 80% (B-) in each course and an overall GPA of 3.0 to maintain enrollment in the BSN program. Courses with ** showcase those with a clinical component.

Year Two
