Overview
Admissions Overview for the Elon University Physician Assistant Studies Program
Elon PA is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in admissions. Our program seeks to build a class of students who represent a variety of backgrounds and experiences in order to develop dedicated and empathetic healthcare professionals.
We evaluate each application on its own merits. Admission decisions are based on all academic work (including undergraduate GPA and science GPA), interview scores, healthcare care experience, letters of recommendation, demonstrated service and leadership ability. Motivation, maturity, interpersonal skills, knowledge of the PA profession and the healthcare system, and the mission of the Elon PA program are also considered.
In alignment with the Elon PA program mission “Learning. Caring. Serving. Leading,” our program values the following in our admissions process:
- Lived experiences that are currently underrepresented in the PA profession
- Cultural humility
- Critical thinking/problem solving
- Adaptability to change
- Ability to collaborate and work in teams
- Demonstrable service to others
- Accountability to oneself and others
Admission to Elon PA is highly competitive and receives approximately 2,500 applications annually. Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the Class Profile and Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about the average criteria of matriculated students and what is looked for in an application file.
Accelerated Pathways
Accelerated Pathways is a selective undergraduate program at Elon University that provides students an opportunity for admission and enrollment into the PA program. Students must complete targeted programming throughout their undergraduate career in addition to meeting all requirements for matriculation into the PA program. The undergraduate coursework and programming completed in the Accelerated Pathways Program does not replace any of the PA curriculum or count as “advanced placement.” Following completion of all Accelerated Pathway requirements, students participate in a final interview prior to acceptance into the PA program.
Prospective undergraduate students interested in the Accelerated Pathways program may view information about the program and admissions process here. Please work with your undergraduate Admissions Counselor to apply.
