Welcome to Elon University! We are excited to have you join the Phoenix Family. First-Year Advising & Registration (FYAR) is part of your experience prior to arriving at Elon. You will engage in three key elements related to FYAR.

Elon Bound

Elon Bound is your online pre-orientation experience. You will be introduced to academic opportunities, community connections, our Elon values, course registration information, and more. This is a requirement in order to sign up for your small group virtual advising session. Access Elon Bound through your Admissions Acorn account.

Small Group Virtual Advising Sessions & Registration

You will participate in a required small group virtual advising session after completing Elon Bound. Students will be emailed an invite to sign up for the session and a link will post in Acorn after completing Elon Bound. The email will also include a Guidebook with a Worksheet for you to complete prior to the virtual advising session. This Guidebook will compliment the section in Elon Bound titled Mapping Your Academics and both will help you prepare for your small group session.

Your virtual advising meeting will be led by a full-time professional staff member. These meetings will be 60 minutes. The advisor will review key information from Elon Bound, discuss your decisions and questions from the Guidebook, and demonstrate how to find key courses in OnTrack for your academic interests. During the session, the advisor will review your planned classes. Once the classes are good based on your academic interests, the advisor will register you for your classes. You must stay through until the advisor has had a chance to check with you on your class options.

Students who want to make schedule changes after their session can opt to attend a second small group virtual advising meeting or can contact the Office of Academic Advising. Students will be cleared to make schedule changes for drop/add week (the first week of the semester) upon arriving for New Student Orientation.
