What is First-Year Advising & Registration?

As a new student, you may think of this as simply how you build your very first class schedule at Elon.

As academic advisors, we see this as an opportunity for you to explore your options. This will allow you to test out your interests and find the major path is right for you.

Overall, FYAR is a collaborative process where new students explore their options through independent research and then work directly with an academic advisor to build a purposeful initial class schedule.

When is First-Year Advising & Registration?

For the Class of 2029, you will complete Elon Bound in May 2025. Our estimated dates for the small group virtual advising sessions are ONLY from June 6th to July 3rd.

Course registration occurs during the FYAR process. Do not wait until the end of FYAR to try to sign up for a session. High demand courses will fill up and so will sessions. However, all students will be able to register for purposeful classes that fulfill requirements throughout the summer.

When can I sign-up for my FYAR session?

Complete Elon Bound, located in your Acorn account via Admissions. Within 24 hours after completion of Elon Bound, go to your Acorn account and locate the sign-up information.

What happens if I don’t participate in FYAR?

All students are required to participate in FYAR. We will be hosting over 400 sessions in summer 2025 at various times, including many weekend sessions. This provides you many opportunities to participate in your own educational process. If you don’t participate, then you cannot create your initial class schedule.

Sessions begin June 6th. The final FYAR sessions conclude on July 3rd.
