By-Appointment Tutoring

Learning Assistance offers students the choice of in-person or virtual by-appointment tutoring for most supported courses. Students have the option to schedule a 30-minute or 60-minute session for most courses. Tutoring sessions can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance and must be booked at least a day in advance.

Drop-In Tutoring

Students do not need an appointment to attend a drop-in tutoring session. There is no limit to the number of students that attend a drop-in session and no limit to how long a student stays in the session within the scheduled timeframe. All drop-in tutoring sessions are held on the second floor of Belk Library.

Peer Success Coaching

Coaches can help students build skills applicable to any course including time management, organization, study strategies, note-taking, etc. Students can schedule a session with a Peer Success Coach through our online scheduler.

Accountability Groups

Accountability groups are a designated time and space for students to study or work on assignments while finding a group of like-minded peers who want to improve their study and learning habits. Students who express interest in joining an accountability group are assigned to a group based on their preferences. Students in an accountability group meet weekly with the same group of peers and group leader.

Peer-Assisted Learning Sessions

Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) sessions provide students an opportunity to better understand course content outside of the traditional classroom setting. PAL sessions are facilitated by a peer leader who has excelled in the course and was recommended by their instructor. PAL leaders create a lesson plan based on content covered in the course and hold weekly group sessions.

Student Success Consultation

Students who need academic support but aren’t sure where to start can schedule a consultation with a Learning Assistance staff member to discuss the many resources available through our office.
