PAL Sessions

Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) Sessions provide students an opportunity to better understand course content outside of the traditional classroom setting while learning from and with their peers. Each session is facilitated by a trained student leader who has excelled in the course and is recommended by their instructor.

Students who attend PAL sessions regularly will better understand course materials and find new, more effective ways of studying.

Students may sign-up for as many or as few sessions as they would like but will only see sessions up to a week in advance. Select a course from the list below to find the session details and sign-up links.

Peer-Assisted Learning FAQs

Do I have to sign up in advance?

Students are strongly encouraged to sign-up for the PAL sessions they plan to attend. Seats will be limited based on the capacity of each location. If seats are still available on the day of the session, you are welcome to bring a friend.

How many PAL sessions can I sign-up for?

You can sign up for as many PAL sessions as you would like. We just ask that you only sign up for the sessions you plan to attend.

What can I expect from a PAL session?

PAL sessions will be an opportunity for you to ask questions, learn with your peers, and review challenging topics from class. The PAL leader will facilitate the session by sharing resources or planning activities that will help you gain a better understanding of course topics. There will also be time for you to ask your peers or the PAL leader questions about assignments or material you recently covered in class.

Are you a faculty member interested in having PAL sessions for your course?

Complete the PAL Interest Form here to be considered for future semesters.

Prior to completing the interest form, be sure to identify a faculty liaison and a student who you recommend as a PAL leader. If your course is selected for PAL sessions, a Learning Assistance staff member will reach out to confirm your participation. If you have questions regarding PAL sessions, please contact Norma Rodriguez (nrodriguez7@elon.edu).

*One PAL leader is typically available to support students across more than one section of a course.

*A Learning Assistance staff member will interview the recommended PAL leader prior to being hired for the role.
