Living-Learning Communities (LLCs)

Faculty and staff may choose to (co)advise an existing LLC or develop a new LLC to support the interests and needs of the campus community. Advising an LLC creates opportunities to engage with students who live in proximity, share similar interests, and interact academically and socially around a unifying theme, interest, affinity group, or (inter)disciplinary focus. Elon’s LLCs, consistently ranked at the top of the U.S. News and World Report, provide an opportunity for students to engage with expert faculty and professionals; attend events, programs, and talks from guest speakers; participate in service experiences; and meet new friends who share a common interest. Through the LLCs students may also fulfill graduation requirements integrated with their living and learning experience by taking Core courses linked to their LLC and/or participating in activities that meet their Engaged Learning Requirement (ELR).

Creating a New LLC

Full-time faculty and staff interested in creating a new LLC can learn more by reviewing the New LLC Proposal Information Packet. Before beginning the LLC planning process, schedule a meeting with the Director of Academic-Residential Partnerships and the Associate Director of Residence Life for Residential Education and Community Development to discuss ideas and review the proposal process. When ready, new LLC proposals can be submitted using the online Proposal Submission Form for New Living-Learning Community (LLC).
