About the Program
Mission
To integrate academic and residential experiences to further students’ development as lifelong learners and responsible global citizens.
Vision
The residential campus program embodies the university’s mission by creating communities that enhance student learning and engagement. Students interact with faculty, staff, and fellow students in residential neighborhoods designed to extend learning beyond the walls of the classroom. Through planned and informal interactions, students encounter new ideas and perspectives, debate the larger questions of life, and practice active citizenship in a shared community.
Collaborative Leadership
Successful integration of students’ academic, social, and residential experiences requires a commitment to collaboration across university divisions and departments at Elon. Most importantly, it involves a strong partnership between academic affairs and student life at every level of its implementation, from the faculty and staff co-leaders of each residential neighborhood to the residential campus co-leaders on Senior Staff in Student Life and in the Provost’s Office. At Elon, over 140 faculty and staff are involved in advancing the mission and vision of Living and Learning at Elon. Learn more about these leaders, mentors, and educators here.
