Teaching Kitchens
Overview
Teaching Kitchens encourage faculty, staff, and student organizations to partner with our Elon Dining chefs and dietician to create enriching learning experiences. Whether you’re looking to align class content, build teamwork, or learn valuable skills in healthy eating and meal preparation, we can tailor a unique class to meet your specific needs.

Details:
Locations and Capacity (10 attendee minimum):
- LaRose Kitchen (10-12 attendees)
- El Centro Kitchen (10-12 attendees)
- McEwen Dining Engagement Space (12+ attendees)
Pricing: $25/attendee. This price includes setup, all ingredients and products, cooking and serving equipment, and 1-2 chefs or dieticians for guidance and education.
Classes are planned for a 2-hour period.
Due to our chef’s schedules, we are only able to accommodate 3 culinary classes per month.
How to Sign Up
- Have a minimum of 10 people participating in the class
- Classes can be scheduled between the hours of 7:00AM – 8:00PM
- 1 Month Out: Initiate request with Elon Dining through Qualtrics Survey.
- Reserve the desired space through 25Live.
- Once initial request has been approved, organization/Class Liaison should contact Kwanza Rone via email to confirm Elon Dining’s availability and begin the planning process.
- Communicate with AD for Dining Engagement, Jackson Mabon, via email throughout the process.
Culinary Class Examples
- Charcuterie Board building class – Teaching how to build amazing charcuterie boards, with local NC cheeses and cured meats
- Hispanic Heritage Month Inspired – lime marquesa and chocotorta
- Mason Jar Rice noodle class – Assembling meal prep jars while educating about sustainability
- Fish Taco class – Building a fish taco with raw products to finished with salsas included
- Hot sauce making class
- Gingerbread Acorn class – Making, Baking, and decorating with pastry chef
- Bagel Making Class – Must be done in McEwen Engagement Space
- Falafel – fillings, toppings, sauces
- Blintzes – Fillings and Toppers
- Pasta making class – Scratch made pasta and sauce class
