The National and International Fellowships Office strongly discourages the use of generative AI when writing and/or revising essays for fellowship applications.

The power of the fellowship application process lies in the iterative nature of the review process, which involves deep self-reflection to help you make sense of your life and tell your story.  This means that the most successful applicants are not the ones who can write the most technically proficient essay, but the ones who weave the most compelling and unique narrative. Generative AI can rarely help you do this.

Therefore, we strongly discourage the use of AI and reserve the right to withhold feedback on any essays we suspect are written by/with AI. We will never use AI to help us write our feedback to you and ask you to show us the same courtesy as you work on your applications.
