PERCS Online Ethnography Mini-Grants

PERCS is pleased to support two student projects that employ online ethnographic methods during the 2020-21 school year. We define online ethnography broadly. Studies examining communities and cultures using contemporary technologies of connectedness, however defined, will be considered. We especially encourage applications from students whose projects reflect the Sociology & Anthropology Department’s goals of increasing diversity and inclusion. Open to all majors.

Two $250 grants will support project development and expenses (materials, technology, stipends, and so on). Students receiving a mini-grant are expected to present their research at the Student Undergraduate Research Forum, Spring 2021.

To apply, please email Rob Perdue (rperdue@elon.edu) the following information by October 16, 2020:

  • A Title and Brief description of the project (about 250 words)
  • Rationale for using online ethnography in your study
  • Potential uses for the grant funds
