How AIs ‘Write’: Explained Like You’re Five

This is a video of a Fall 2023 workshop given by Computer Science professor Dr. Shannon Duvall, the Center for Writing Excellence’s 2023-2024 Technology Fellow. Dr. Duvall’s workshop was designed for those who are not experts in computer science or AI, and she uses simple terms to explain how exactly AIs are built and how they seem to “write” so quickly.

This video is an excellent resource for faculty and staff to watch to gain some basic AI critical literacy. Many faculty across the disciplines have also used this video in their classrooms, either assigned as homework or viewed in class together.
