Planning
Institutional Level Planning
First and foremost, it should be understood that the planning process at Elon is institution-wide, highly inclusive, and highly iterative. Elon strives to have a focused adherence to its mission statement, requires each unit to develop long-term and short-term goals and objectives, provides reflective opportunities, requires each unit to submit an end-of-year report that indicates a measure of success of outcomes, and provides opportunities to adjust programs and services based upon relevant feedback.
Upper-Division Level (Senior Staff) Planning
Each of the six upper-division levels of the university, or vice presidential area, is required to develop a five-year plan for their specific division. These five-year plans are distributed to the other vice presidents’ for feedback and suggestions. Keeping true to its focus, these strategic plans are developed in support of the institutional strategic plan and thus the institutional mission.
Departmental Level Planning
Planning at the departmental level follows the model of planning that have been presented in the Institutional and Vice President level: creating planning documents, generating annual priorities, evaluating outcomes of goals, making improvements, and revising subsequent plans.
