• To fulfill its mission, Elon University monitors student achievement in multiple ways during the time students are enrolled and once they have graduated. Examples of Elon’s goals for student achievement and the success of students in achieving those goals are provided in the Student Achievement and Success Report. These include retention from first- to second-year, persistence to degree (graduation rate), participation in selected high impact practices, outcomes for licensing examinations, and students’ success in securing jobs or continuing their education after graduation.  Contextualizing numbers provides more meaningful information. Thus, benchmarking can play an important role in helping to gauge success. In the Student Achievement and Success Report, external resources that provide benchmarking data such as the National Survey of Student Engagement are used to help provide additional comparative meaning (i.e., how Elon compares to other institutions). In addition to the broad, institutional indicators of student achievement reported here, student learning outcomes specific to academic departments and programs, the Elon Core Curriculum, student life units, and co-curricular programs are assessed annually.

In accordance with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges policy statement on Institutional Obligations for Public Disclosure and Federal Requirement 4.1, Elon University provides and annually updates information regarding student success in achieving its institutional goals in the Student Achievement and Success Report.
